Facilities

Highlands is situated on an attractive campus site which it shares with Grange Park Primary, in the pleasant suburban area of west Enfield. The school has a magnificent building which was completed in September 2000 by Laing Ltd.

About the Building

The building was the first new secondary school completed under the Private Finance Initiative. It was commissioned by the Borough of Enfield, built by Laing Ltd, financed by a consortium of banks and is 'facilities managed' by John Laing. The building is spacious, bright and designed to be flexible to allow for future change and development. It has excellent facilities. Each main curriculum area is suited together in one of the 'wings' of the building.

ICT

The whole school is networked for ICT and students have open access to computers, the school Intranet and Internet. The school's Intranet can be accessed from home for those with home PCs and an Internet link. There are 3 ICT rooms for whole group work and computers are located in curriculum areas and in the Library.

The Science Faculty has specialised ICT equipment for data-logging and Technology has an impressive array of CAD-CAM machines. All curriculum areas have specialist software to support learning.

We have considerable AVA resources to support learning and a bright, large Library and Information Centre which is  to developing with the students, ensuring that the technology and electronic facilities available to the students stay current for the foreseeable future.

Specialist facilities

The school boasts excellent facilities for the Arts, including a dance studio, drama studios, film-making and sound technology studios, a music suite including practise rooms and specialist Arts facilities which include a large specialist print room, a large ceramics room and specialist 2D and 3D rooms.

The Reprographics Department

Students can print their work for a small charge if they save their work in the student work for printing area  or on a memory stick. The school offers a full reprographics service, which includes black and white or colour printing,  binding, laminating and booklet making.  We also stock a full range of assorted marbled and coloured papers for the students to present their work on.
