Welcome to the Sixth Form

SIXTH FORM INFORMATION EVENING

Held on Tuesday 18 November 2014

"The sixth form is outstanding. Students are thoroughly prepared to progress to higher education or employment." OFSTED 2014

"Progress from GCSE is OUTSTANDING and within the top 5% of schools nationally." ALPS 2012

"Students’ prior attainment on entry to the sixth form is broadly in line with the national average, but the outstanding progress they make secures outstanding achievement overall." OFSTED 2011

The sixth form at Highlands School is an exciting and vibrant place to be where challenging academic work goes hand in hand with opportunities to develop as young people, lead others and help the school and wider community.

We offer a wide range of AS and A level courses and the BTEC National Diploma.

The A Level provides a traditional academic route whilst the BTEC gives students the chance to gain practical experience and learn in depth about their chosen area of study. Both courses are suitable preparation for university entry.

Our strong pastoral care system ensures that students receive regular one to one tutoring to help them make the most of the academic and community opportunities on offer and to guide them onto the next stages of their lives. The form tutors are the first point of contact for parents.

We are proud of the achievements of our sixth form students and regularly celebrate their successes.
