Bank of England Insight Day

Bank of England ambassador visits Highlands

Sixth form economics students had an exciting opportunity to attend a presentation from a Bank of England ambassador who visited Highlands School. The speaker explained the key roles of the Bank of England, including its responsibilities for monetary and financial stability, as well as the tools it uses to achieve these goals.

Students gained valuable insights into practical applications of concepts they have studied in class, such as how the UK bank rate has changed over the years and how the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Policy Committee (FPC) work to prevent financial crises.

The presentation also included a personal account of the ambassador’s career journey, with tips for students interested in pursuing a career in related fields.

During the Q&A session, students had the chance to ask questions and deepen their understanding of economics in the real world.
