Year 13 trip to Somerset

Year 13 trip to Somerset
Our year 13 A-Level geographers set off on a road trip down to Somerset for their five day NEA (Non-Examined Assessment) coursework field trip. Based in Nettlecombe Court in Exmoor National Park, students took day trips to Minehead and Porlock Bay and were introduced to multiple field techniques such as how to measure a beach profile and how to conduct a 'Hudson's equation'. They were given the opportunity to practice using field equipment such as calipers and clinometers, before making the tough decision on what topic to write their 4,000 word report on. Two students chose to return to Porlock Bay to conduct their data collection on coastal processes, and nine chose to return to Minehead; five of whom decided on a coastal management report, and four decided on a changing places report.
We are so proud of all of our hard-working year 13 geographers, and we wish them the best of luck in writing their NEA reports which counts towards 20% of their final A level grade.
