Higher education support

Highlands Sixth Form is committed to ensuring that all students reach their next destinations. We want all of our students to know that they can fulfil their potential. We therefore support students in the following way:

  • Two days of dedicated support with external speakers from higher education providers.

  • Visits to higher education fairs.

  • Access to a dedicated career advisor who is based in the sixth form area.

  • Specialised team of tutors who have experience of supporting students writing applications and personal statements.

  • An online six-week remote learning programme to prepare students for higher education applications.

  • PSHE curriculum to support higher education routes.

  • Access to JED (Job explorer database) higher ideas software for exploring higher education options.

  • Year 12 work experience led by our award-winning careers department (awarded by Future TalentEd).

As a result of the above support in 2022/23:

  • 80% of students reached their first choice destination in 2023/24.

  • 26% of students are studying at Russell Group universities in 2023/24.

  • A student is studying at Oxford in 2023/24.
