A level: OCR A level Physical Education
Highlands School recognises the importance of pupils taking part in physical activity both in PE lessons, and outside PE lessons.
Regular physical activity is associated with:
-
improved attainment, concentration, and learning
-
improved mental health, and a healthier weight status.
-
Improved ability to manage stress
-
self-efficacy
-
improved sleep
-
the development of social skills and better social interaction.
As a result, Highlands School has thought carefully about the way which students will experience physical activity throughout their school career.
Whilst at Highlands School students will:
-
be active, on average, for at least 2 hours per week.
-
engage in a range of activities
-
be equipped with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to pursue healthy and active lives beyond school
-
develop a healthy perception of sporting participation amongst all students.
