Teaching and Learning
The Highlands School curriculum is ambitious and designed to educate students in the best that has been thought and said in each subject, and to build cultural capital. The curriculum at Highlands is delivered by a team of well qualified teachers who are leaders in their fields. Examples of our teaching staff includes:
- Dr Len who has published work and has over 20 years experience in university and commercial research laboratories
- Dr Hurst is a fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and a visiting fellow of Kings’ College London. He will also be publishing a book on British history.
- Ms Wilton is currently working with a number of other schools to support their work on their science curriculum.
- Mr Duce has delivered subject-specific lectures to English teachers across the country
The impact of teaching and learning can be seen by the outcomes of the KS5 exams in 2020/21:
- 60% A*-B in A level
- 46% D*-D in BTEC
- ALPS 2 in A level
- ALPS 3 in BTEC
