Departments use a combination of both formative and summative assessment to monitor and report progress. Formative assessment will be used in day-to-day teaching to track students’ progress within each subject domain, so that specific gaps in knowledge can be identified.
Summative assessments at all key stages will be taken throughout the year.
At key stage 3 each subject has a set of key curriculum objectives that are shared with students and progress is reported twice a year.
Effort and application are measured using a four point scale: outstanding, good, inconsistent and cause for concern. The criteria are printed on the back of every exercise book and are available on the linked document below.
